Modern Drummer Festival Weekend 1998: Saturday

Modern Drummer Festival Weekend 1998, which took place May 16 and 17, featured a diverse line-up of some of the world's most exciting and innovative drummers. The best moments of the festival are presented on this two-tape series. Included are excerpts of each performance, plus interviews with each of the featured performers, as well as footage of other notable drummers who were in attendance. This 85-minute tape of Saturday's festivities includes these features: Dartmouth High School Drum Line, winners of the High School Division of the 1997 Winter Guard International Competition * Jeff Hamilton, who has played with Oscar Peterson, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Woody Herman, performs with his trio and gives a presentation on jazz technique * Will Kennedy, longtime member of the Yellowjackets, performs with fellow band members Russell Ferrante on keyboards and Jimmy Haslip on bass * Rod Morgenstein and keyboard wizard Jordan Rudess perform music from their CD The Rudess Morgenstein Project.
